Stay on a boat in Liverpool

Ken's top tips for staying on a boat in Liverpool

Beds on Board boat owners are passionate about the places where they moor their boats and want to share their local knowledge with every guest who crosses their decks. Ken from Liverpool is no exception, over the past two years he has given families a proper scouse welcome to his sailing boat ‘Gabrielle’ which is moored in the Albert Dock.

“I’ve had Gabrielle for seven years, I used to have a smaller boat but when she started to get old I decided it was time to go for something more luxurious. It’s boring having money in the bank and owning a boat is such an adventure. The Albert Dock in Liverpool is so nice, last summer I meant to go away for two months, I came back after two weeks, I missed the city (and my wife) too much.”

Top things to do in Liverpool

  • Visit local museums especially the Tate Gallery. 'Gabrielle' is moored right next to the Tate and all museums in Liverpool are free entry.
  • Go to a concert at St George's Hall, or the Liverpool Arena which are both really close.
  • There are lots of great restaurants near the Albert Dock.
  • I can't think of anything better than enjoying a quiet drink on 'Gabrielle'. The view from her deck of the grade 1 listed Liver Building is pretty special.

“We’ve had people come and stay from all over the place, Birmingham, Ireland, Spain and from London. I’ve also had people use the boat when they are staying in Liverpool on business, you couldn’t get a more central location.

Hotels in Liverpool city centre are now more expensive than London! Some hotels near where Gabrielle is moored can charge more than £100 for a room on a Saturday night, my boat is cheaper and more comfortable.”

What guests say about Ken

"We were a little excited to say the least when we first arrived, our charming host was ready and waiting for us. We stepped on board and he invited us into his kingdom which became 'ours' for the next two days. We were showed the ropes as it were and he left left us feeling confident and happy. The location in Albert Docks is surrounded by restaurants, pubs and coffee shops, as well as tourist attractions and museums. It was perfect for our mini break. We have since recommended it to friends and family with no reservations."
