    Welcome to our FAQ page where we try and answer the most common questions about staying on a boat with Beds on Board.

    Yes! All reviews are posted on the boat and the user’s profile but we have a selection for your to read here.

    Do I need to have experience of being on a boat?

    No. The boats are for accommodation only so most of the systems will not be used. We recommend you don't cook on board or use the toilets (most marinas have great facilities on shore for this).

    The owner will arrange to meet you and show you the boat and cover anything you need to know.

    We recommend you ask the owner about this during the booking process.

    How do I search on the website?

    On the homepage, start typing a location (EG: “London") in the search box and then click on one of the options from the drop down list.

    You can then add your dates and number of guests and click 'Search'.

    You will see all of our available boats in that area and you can use the map to zoom out or move around to see more. Or use 'Change search' to try some other options.

    How do I know if a boat is available?

    If you have added dates to your search then only boats with availability will be shown. We do know that owners may decide to use their boat without updating their calendar so we recommend you use the 'Contact owner' button or send a booking request to check on availability.

    We recommend you do not make any travel arrangements unless you have a booking accepted by the owner.

    Is the price shown per person or per night?

    The price shown is for the entire boat (or cabin or bunk, depending what is on offer) it is not per person.

    How do I get in touch with an owner?

    Click the 'Contact owner' button from any boat detail page, enter your dates and any message.

    You will be asked to log in or sign up to use these feature. This will create a thread in our Message Centre that you can both access in the 'My Messages' section.

    The owner will receive also an email and SMS prompt.

    Can I have the owner's telephone number?

    Contact details are only shared after your booking has been accepted by the owner so you can make final arrangements.

    Please keep all communication within the Message Centre for your privacy and peace of mind. Just log in and click on 'My Messages'.

    I've sent the owner a message and I haven't heard back yet

    The owner has 48 hours to respond to your booking enquiry. They will have been notified of your message by email and SMS.

    We recommend you search for other options and to not make any travel arrangements until a booking has been accepted.

    How will I get the keys? Will someone show me around?

    You should arrange to meet the owner or their representative using the Message Centre. We recommend all guests are given a handover so you can get to know the boat and any considerations such as marina rules.

    Can I bring my dog?

    Some owners allow dogs but we recommend you ask the owner before making a booking request (using the 'Contact owner' button). It may depend on the type of dog and the owner may require an additional cleaning fee.

    Can I take the boat out?

    No. Beds on Board is for accommodation only.

    Are there toilets/showers on board?

    There usually are, but we recommend that you use the on shore facilities whenever they are available. Most marinas will ask you to do the same as they may have rules about waste water.

    Can I be confident when making a payment?

    You can have complete confidence when booking with Beds on Board.

    All payments are made using our secure payment partner Braintree, a PayPal company. Details are only held in a secure vault, they are never disclosed to a third party, nor are they available to us.

    We hold on to payment until after a successful check in so that you can report any problems.

    Can I pay a deposit? Can I pay nearer the time?

    No. An important part of our service is that the owners know that we have authorised the payment when they receive your booking request. 

    It means you can focus on asking questions and making sure the boat is right for you without having to discuss payment.

    Can I search for a specific price, or amenities? Are there search filters?

    Yes. Search by location form the homepage then in the search results page click on 'Change search' and you will see a choice of filters. 

    Once you have selected your filter click 'Save & search' to search again with those filter applied.
