The whole island is for exploring, from the harbour of Mahon, the capital with its array of harbourside bars and restaurants. Mahon harbour is one of the largest natural harbours in the world and is over4 km long. The capital of Mahon overlooks the magnificant harbour which the British held for over one hundred years, mainly for its strategic position in the Mediterranean. The British influence is plain to see in the many colonial buildings on the island and the British are still the largest group of visitors annually. The island is largely unspoilt by tourism and offers a welcome change from high rise buildings and hotels. Most development is restrained and has concentrated on developments of private summer residences. The beaches are numerous and very attractive. It is said that Menorca boasts more beaches than the other Balearic Islands combined.

The Area

The area around Addaya is surrounded by pine clad forests with the main road to Mahon and Fornells giving access to the capital to the south east and one of the most beautiful north coast harbours in the other direction. There is also the resort of Arenal within 7 km of Addaya, offering all the amenities of a major resort whilst still maintaining the beauty of a stunning white sand horseshoe bay.

About the marina/waterway

Addaya is a long fjord type inlet and is surrounded by pine trees and limestone cliffs. The marina is family run and you will be so impressed with the friendly atmosphere that is apparent from the moment of your arrival. The berth is on the main quay, allowing superbly easy access to the boat. Only boat owners' cars are allowed into the berthing area through the security gate, hence the whole marina is bathed in tranquility with beautiful views up the inlet where, in the summer, a few yachts anchor overnight to take advantage of this exceptional area. This location is truly unique since, normally, you have to sacrifice peace and quiet to ensure that you have the amenities that most people expect on holiday. Not so in Addaya where you have showers and toilets for the exclusive use of mooring holders plus an excellent family run Bar Restaurant, the location of which could not be bettered. Alternative bars and restaurants are a short walk up the hill into the village of Addaya where there are three further restaurants and a well stocked supermarket. To explore the rest of the island Addaya is well situated to go by bus or car to Fornells, an amazing natural harbour of over three miles long. The capital of Mahon is 18 kilometres away which offers one of the largest natural harbours in the world and is reached by one of the prettiest roads on the island.
