Stay on a boat in Banavie, United Kingdom
Ros Crana, is a 44 metre, static, comfortable barge, located at the top of Neptune's staircase on the Caledonian Canal near Fort William. We can accommodate up to 12 guests. For 1 -6 guests we charge £240 per night, for over 6 guests we have an additional charge of £25 per person per night, up to a maximum of 12 guests. We also have a minimum two night stay (4 nights during Christmas & New Year).
With wonderful views of Ben Nevis and the surrounding hills this is an ideal base for discovering the beauty of the area and if you wish, the active challenges of the surrounding countryside with skiing, walking, cycling, having fun, all options.
Ros Crana was lovingly converted in 2012 from a working Dutch barge called Nenuphar to what she is today. This deliberate conversion has created a cosy, well equipped accommodation ideal for a family or group stay.
Located either side of the barge, away from the saloon and dining area, are 6 en-suite twin cabins. The en-suites have powerful hot showers and all cabins have good heating making a cosy cabin even in the coldest months.
The lounge and dining area offer plenty of room to sit and relax during your stay. The kitchen has every cooking utensil required, including a dish washer. An efficient drying room is on board too.
The guest have access to the communal areas on board Ros Crana. This includes a fully equipped galley, the dining area, spacious saloon and the en-suite cabins. Linen and towels are also provided for each cabin
With a waterside location there is complete privacy and with the adjacent canal towpath, it is an ideal location for walking and cycling. (Cycles are available to hire if requested). A café, and a few bars are located close by, along with a Co-Op available in the villages of Caol and Corpach. Fort William, the largest town is 3 miles away and has all the usual amenities - shops, supermarkets, petrol stations etc.
The area is one of the most attractive parts of the Western Highlands and is known as the Outdoor Capital of the UK. With Ben Nevis, UK's highest mountain, Nevis Range, a well established ski and cycling resort, all in view from the barge, it is an ideal base to explore this beautiful part of the country. If you prefer more gentle walking or cycling the well established long distance route, the Great Glen way, uses the canal towpath. The towpath is located on the opposite side of the canal.
