    Layout

Main entry is through the amidships well deck, which has been fitted with teak edging and teak laid decks. There is a large teak table to the centre of the well deck, with space for six people to dine alfresco. Steps lead down from the well deck to the full size teak\half glazed stabledoor and into the main saloon.
The spacious saloon has three windows on both sides, making it very light and airy, and offering good visibility of the world outside, with an opening covered window onto the well deck. Storage cupboards line both sides of the saloon, two of which contain full size fridge and freezer. The saloon is laid out informally with chairs, dining table and a beautiful coffee table made from an old lee-board
Descending the steps forward from the saloon, one enters the main dining area, with large comfy fixed seating for 8 people, with glass fronted display cabinets, blue painted shelving and brass hanging oil lamps, it has a real ship’s feel.
The galley is opposite and is equipped with a small fridge for everyday items, a full size dishwasher, combined oven\grill\microwave, four ring stainless steel gass hob with stainless steel extractor hood and a stainless steel gas oven. Plenty of worktops and numerous cupboards. There is also a large porthole for light and ventilation.
A central companionway with a full length roof light, leads to the forward accommodation. On the starboard side, the bathroom is lined throughout with mahogany. Opposite the bathroom is a small cabin (1) fitted out with two single bunks, and a porthole. Forward of this cabin on the same side is a larger cabin (2) also fitted with a double bunk and porthole. On the starboard side is another large cabin (3) with three single bunks. This cabin has 2 portholes and an opening roof light.
Returning to the saloon, steps lead off the port side down to the astern accommodation, passing on the right a large coat cupboard, also containing the hot water tank. Continuing along the companion way the washing machine and tumble drier are located on the right behind a curtain. Opposite this is the entrance to cabin (4) and (5). Cabin 4 contains a double bed and 2 portholes, cabin 5 contains a sofa\single bed and a fold away single bunk, and 2 portholes.
Leaving cabin 5 and returning to the companionway, opposite is a bathroom with a porthole. Next you come to an area with cupboards leading off containing all the ship’s electrics and a separate cupboard containing a central heating boiler. Also there is a ladder leading up into the roof cabin and on out to the stern deck
Continuing along the companionway on the port side is a private bathroom for cabin (6) with a porthole. The companionway then leads onto the stern state cabin, occupying the whole stern, with 2 portholes and 2 opening windows looking out over the water to the rudder. this cabin contains a double bed.

    Onboard

The large forward deck features the original anchor windlass\main mast winch and offers lots of space for working the ship and ropes when cruising. The inflatable is also stored on this deck and has its own winch for launching.
Over the amidships section is the main saloon roof, rising up into a wonderful double curvature\saddle roof.
The well deck is surrounded by low teak capped sides with entrance gates to both sides and there is a large outside dining area for at least 6 people. The sailing winch for the mizzen mast is also contained within this area.
To the rear of the well deck is the roof cabin, which has steel shutters to the windows and twin portholes facing forward. This cabin is the navigation cabin and access to the engine room.
The aft deck has the large tiller steering and access hatch into the roof cabin

    Onsite

s you come down the long farm track towards the river you can see all the way to Mistley on your right, Parkeston Quay dead ahead with Harwich and the cranes of Felixstowe to your left.
The mudflats, exposed as the tide ebbs away, belong to the RSPB and the whole area is a site of Special Scientific interest and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Winter or Summer, the location is a magical place. Long walks along the river take you to far off pubs, short walks to your local. The track down can sometimes be a bit bumpy especially if there has been a lot of rain, but that is offset by the calm and privacy when you arrive. We always aim to meet you when you arrive and show you around, tell you where everything is, and let you know about the area.
Situated on the Shotley Peninsula, you are ideally poised to explore the stunning Suffolk Heritage Coast if you wish, or simply kick back and enjoy your surroundings

A great pub and restaurant, The Shipwreck, is on the Marina, offering excellent food & drink plus fantastic views.

    The Area

here are many walks around the Peninsula including a coastal footpath that starts from the Orwell Bridge, and a short walk from Woolverstone Marina to Pin Mill. Please continue reading for more information on Pin Mill.

The twisting and turning roads and lanes of the Peninsula are perfect for all levels of cyclist, with fantastic views to be seen from every angle.

    What's special about this boat

She sleeps from 2 to 12 guests. There are two double beds, one in the lovely skippers stern cabin, the rest are traditional sea going bunks. The cockpit has amazing views up the Stour to the west toward Mistley and to the East, Harwich and Felixstowe. As the tide ebbs and flows covering and uncovering the RSPB mudflats, the scenery changes, the light is always different. The huge dawns and sunsets are a major part of the memories you will take home with you. There are still Thames Barges sailing these rivers with their majestic red sails, and if you like we can organise a day away on board one.
Have your lunch outside in the cockpit amongst the birds, or sit below in the comfortable saloon listening to the saltwater lapping against the hull.
“Volharding” is an ‘Oostzeetjalk’ class Dutch sailing barge, brought to the UK from Holland in 2000. She has been used for residential and cruising on the Thames and sailed in the Thames estuary in 2001. She has been well maintained and has beautiful proportions and size.
