You can expect a warm and knowledgeable welcome from the crew. You will be provided with a bunk and breakfast. You will need to bring your own sleeping bag and pillow.

Excelsior is a rugged traditional working boat. You will be sharing the ship with other guests. The guest bunk areas are in communal spaces, separate from the crew accommodation

The main saloon is kept constantly warm by "Deidre" the diesel fueled cooking stove and the large table at its heart is the focus of below decks life on board.

The extensive deck is a great place to hang out on a warm evening.

Ha'penny Pier

View Point Rd, Harwich

About the marina/waterway

Constructed in 1853 Ha’penny Pier is Harwich’s most iconic landmark and remains one the UK’s only surviving working, wooden piers. The name of the pier originates from the 1/2d (half an old penny) toll that was charged for entry to visitors using the regular paddle steamer services. The pontoons at Ha'penny pier provide berths for visiting boats and form a focal point in the Harwich Shanty Festival
