Stay on a boat in Little Venice, United Kingdom
Beautiful 57 ft narrow boat available on a privtae central London mooring.
One master small double bed. One sofa bed.
Fully fitted kitchen, gas hob and oven. Log fired stove plus separate central heating. Bathroom with shower. Real luxury on the waterways...
The accommodation is beautifully designed and has recently been refurbished throughout. It comprises a small double master bed, and a sofa bed for additional guests. Barbara is perfect for a couple, or would be great for a familiar friends looking for an alternative, fun holiday.
The living area comprises a lounge seating area, and diner. There is a modern kitchen, with a gas oven and hob, a good size fridge with freezer compartment, a sink and draining board, cupboards and drawers housing all the usual kitchen equipment.
The bathroom has a shower and a pump out toilet. We provide all towels and toiletries.
Water is held in a tank on-board and needs topping up every few days (depending on your usage). This will be done by your host.
In the winter months heating is by the solid fuel stove which burns a combination of smokeless coal and logs which are provided. The stove can be controlled and kept going 24 hours but you need to allow for this in your daily loading stove before going out and a little attention on your return. It keeps the boat warm and cosy. An eco fan assists circulation.
Living on board is not quite like a conventional house and needs an understanding and patience- it may therefore not be for everyone. Power is supplied from batteries which means appliances that we take for granted such a hair dryers can run the power supply down very quickly.
Essentially, power isn't on tap as we're used to in our homes.
If the power runs down the engine will need to be started to charge up the batteries. If there are any problems the host will be on call to assist.
The peaceful boulevards of Maida Vale seem to belong in a different, less crowded city than the rest of London. If you've ever heard of the Beatles, you know about Abbey Road, home to the most famous zebra crossing in the world.
What's special about this boat
Barbara is truly one-of-a-kind, and has an independent attitude and a great attention to detail. Our clientele is individualistic, too. The barge is finished with high-quality materials and quirky and antique touches to create a memorable experience.
We always take time to choose the finest linens and organic toiletries which contribute to an atmosphere of comfort and luxury. All barges Barbara and Morning Velvet are provided with the latest technology, offbeat decorative elements, and an independent spirit.
The canal is an incredible part of British history and a hidden gem in Central London. Please come and share the experience and see another side to London- a quiet oasis in this amazing city.

Barbara la Belle
I enjoyed our 2 day stay at the boat very much. There boat is perfect equipped with all one needs. The location at little Venice is very romantic, well connected and quiet. And last not least Sam is a wonderful host. I like to recommend Barbara highly. Best Monika
We stayed 2 nights on Barbara to celebrate my husband's birthday. She is in a perfect location with many local bars and restaurants close by but we chose to eat on deck and loved watching river life both human and birds! The boat is beautiful and Sam the owner could not have been more helpful and kind.
fabolous location, everything you may possibly need on board, easy logistics for getting in/out.plus added magic of staying afloat.highly recommended.10 of 10. thank you Sam.
Lovely stay on this sweet narrowboat. Perfect location. The only drawback for me was the fact one cannot use a hairdryer and the Maserator toilet will not take toilet tissue. Sam was very helpful and the dongle meant we could watch tv on my iPad with only some buffering from time to time.
Excellent stay, 4 people, 2 nights in London
Booked 2 nights on Sam's boat for 3 days in London to be able to take friends visiting from Canada around the sights with ease, the boat was booked months in advance a few week I was notified that the boat needed emergency repairs but Sam offered the use of another boat which was better, Sam was at the arranged meeting place on time and went through the details onboard, this was an excellent experience for any tourists visiting London, much more unusual than a hotel, and worked out cheaper than 2 hotel rooms, the evenings on board were also much better than a hotel room, couple of bottles of wine and nibbles made for a great evening. Would highly recommend staying on one of Sams boats if you are visiting London.
A weekend away without going away!
LOVED this little boat and weekend away (we live in London but wanted to do something without getting on another plane!). The boat is perfect and completely decked out (no pun intended) and spacious! It's in a great spot in the middle of little Venice with restaurants and bars and shops all very close! We wanted for nothing while on the boat! We'd definitely recommend this boat for a weekend when looking for something a little different and fun! Thanks again to Sam and Hatam who were great as well and gave loads of tips for the area.
Fantastic last minute stay
Me and my girlfriend spent two nights on Barbara. Had a great stay with everything meeting or exceeding our expectations. Sam was great at arranging a very last minute booking and communicating with us. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
Such a lovely experience!
Sam was so lovely and my stay on Barbara really exceeded my expectations! The boat was really comfortable, immaculate and in the best location of Little Venice. I also loved all of the lovely touches such as her providing slippers, freshly baked bread and leaving some essentials in the fridge. It was such a memorable stay and Sam clearly takes pride in providing an excellent service for her clients.
Coming back to Barbara moored in little Venice after a day tripping around the bustle of London was a real treat. The last days of October were, as to be expected, a bit chilly but the coal burning stove kept the whole boat nice and warm. Sebastian (Sams man on the spot) was very helpful and the breakfasts at the Quince Tree cafe are not to be missed. we ate there 3 days running!! John
