Stay on a boat in Amsterdam, Netherlands .

A unique experience in the most vibrant area of Amsterdam! Stay in a stylish renovated houseboat and enjoy the best views in the city. Shops, restaurants, public transport, the highway and the major museums are all within a stone’s throw distance. However, waking up on the water makes you feel you’re away from home!

Next to a chill deck on the side, a small but fully equipped kitchen and a nice sized bed in your bedroom situated next to what used to be the steering house of the boat.

The 100 year old houseboat is situated in the ‘Pijp’; Amsterdam’s heart and action. Tram, metro and train (Amstel Station) are a 5-10 minute walk. If you prefer to explore the city by bike, there are many rental places just around the corner.
The bedroom has a double bed, a desk and many windows so you can enjoy the water view. The living room has a daybed which functions as a full double bed. This way our boat is suitable for 4 adults or 2 adults + 2 kids.

    House rules:
No smoking inside, but you’re welcome to smoke outside on the terrace boat.
We ask you to not host any parties nor bring friends that are not staying as our guest.
We try to keep the Amstel water clean by using an automatic pump that brings the used water to the sewer system onshore. In addition we flush the toilet with Amstel water. You won’t really notice this, but it does need a little extra care.
A 100 years ago people were built a little shorter than the Dutch are nowadays. Therefor the bedroom has quite a low ceiling. Please be aware if you’re taller than 1.80 meters, you’d have to bend your head a little. The Captain’s Bar (steering hut) and Living have higher ceilings.
The boat is situated between the Amstel and a road. As everywhere in a bustling area, there will be some urban sound.

As many other house boats in Amsterdam, there are close neighbors. The boat is the second of the shore which means that you have to make a little old-fashioned climb over our neighbor’s boat. Heavy suitcases and high heels might be inconvenient ;-).

Once you have arrived at the boat, walk over the neighbors boat, it's easiest to take the right walk path.

In the boat are two rather small stairs, one to the living- and one to the sleeping area. Unfortunately this makes our boat unsuitable for toddlers and wheelchairs.

There’s a small but fully equipped kitchen, a good coffee machine and wireless internet. But the star attraction of the boat is our water terrace, the perfect spot for sunny days and warm evenings! Join the locals in summer for a swim and dive in the water from the terrace boat, the water is clean and refreshing. An unforgettable experience!
On cold winter nights you can turn on the electric heaters and/or the wood stove in the living and bedroom, it will make your winter stay just that little more romantic. Lumps are provided!

    The Area

De Pijp (The Pipe) is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The Pijp is located directly south of Amsterdam's city centre and it is part of the borough 'Amsterdam-Zuid'. Most street names in the Pijp are named after Dutch painters, like Jan Steen, Frans Hals, Ruysdael and Vincent van Gogh.

The most famous and busiest street market of the Netherlands, the Albert Cuyp Market, is in the Pijp. It is open six days per week and attracts a lot of tourists. The former Heineken brewery is also a popular tourist attraction. Next to the former Heineken brewery is the Marie Heinekenplein, which has a lot of bars and cafes, as well as the near Gerard Douplein. Along the canal 'Ruysdaelkade' there is a small red light area.

The Pijp has a very diverse population, with a lot of yuppies as well as foreign immigrants (43% of the population is foreign, most of whom are non-western immigrants) and students. Famous Dutch people who have lived in the Pijp include painter Piet Mondriaan, folk singer André Hazes, design team Marvin Oduber and Monika Oduber, as well as actress Carice van Houten.

About the marina/waterway The Amstel is a river in the Netherlands which runs through the city of Amsterdam. The river's name is derived from Aeme-stelle, old Dutch for "water-area",[1] namely, an area abounding with water. The well-known bridge Magere Brug in Amsterdam crosses the river, as do the bridges Blauwbrug, Hoge Sluis and Berlagebrug. The Stopera city hall and opera house and Carré theatre are both located on the banks of the river.
