Reviews as an owner
we had a wonderful weekend on Velvet Morning. It is a beautiful boat in a beautiful location with a lovely pub and restaurants very nearby
A little bit of paradise in the city
We recently stayed aboard Velvet Morning in the Paddington Basin. The handover was seamless and thorough. Although the interior in places was a bit tired, every detail was thought of; comfy bed, crisp clean linen, a basic larder, all set for a wonderful weekend. A peaceful retreat close to great restaurants and amenities...moored opposite M & S (what more could one want?!).
A great experience. Morning Velvet delivered.
Accommodstion in London is very expensive, particularly if there are 3 of you. We were travelling with our 9yr old son and staying in Little Venice with him on MV was something he and we will never forget. Not only does it encourage you to explore the canal environment but you get a full kitchen and quiet location as well. It's different and may not be for everyone but we loved it. We also really enjoyed the birdlife and general canal activity.
Just ended our two night stay on velvet, Sam is a great host and the house boat is amazing. It's a very special place to stay, great location too
Wonderful stay; highly recommend! The boat is stunning and Sam was so thoughtful to leave bread, eggs, milk, butter and jam for breakfasts. Am recommending to all my friends! x
My Daughter bought us a stay on Velvet Morning for my Xmas present..
Wow.... we had a fantastic one nights stay. The weather was fab and the boat is beautiful. We met a representative of the owner at a local pub just up the road which is a very short walk from the tube station Warwick Avenue he was a lovely man who gave us a tour of the boat and explained everything. He also told us interesting facts on the area and where to visit. There was some items for our breakfast provided which was a lovely surprise. The boat was clean and well equipped there was no tv but who needs one when on such a great boat with so much to see and do. There was a speaker system that Bluetooths to your phone so we could play soothing music. Just over the canal there was a very nice pub where we had a great evening meal outside under patio heaters. It was so quiet at night we slept really well, you cannot believe you are in the heart of London. We did a barge trip to Camden with a guide one way which was great and very informative. We walked back with a lovely Australian couple we met on the boat. Would we stay again.. you bet it’s a relaxing stay on a beautiful boat in a great location with plenty to see and do.
What a fantastic way to spend a summer's evening, we had the most amazing stay on Velvet Morning in Little Venice. Close to so many nice restaurants, and of course gorgeous walks along the canal. Safe and beautiful, you won't regret booking a few nights away in London's Venice!
We have chosen to stay on a boat to have a different experience, It certainly was... Lovely accommodation, clean and well furnished... We must say it might not be adequate for extreme winter conditions. The heating was not sufficient for sub-cero outside temperatures in London the night we arrived. Even though the boat was preheated, the radiators did not continue heating through the night which made the inside temperature of the boat drop too much. We were really, really cold. The second day, as outside temperature was not so gruelling we copped a bit better... However I believe this would make a lovely stay in summer, it was a great location with plenty to do in the area, lots of information was provided by the host. Despite the cold we will be Back! Thank you Sam,
4 of us booked 3 nights on board. Sam sent us clear directions and met us to take us to the boat. She gave us clear information about what we needed to do and know and provided some basic food stuff for our use. Although we had a small.issue with the gas, Sam was available by text to help us or would have come round if we needed her.
We had a lovely stay on the above long boat ~ just to say Sam was delightful and very helpful getting us settled and sorted on board ~ only thing we would say is one should be pretty fit and capable of climbing in/out of bed/ bath and looking after a solid fuel stove - We being boaties coped but others older and not fit may not !!! Great location and The Summer House restaurant opposite was fab!
Coming back to Barbara moored in little Venice after a day tripping around the bustle of London was a real treat. The last days of October were, as to be expected, a bit chilly but the coal burning stove kept the whole boat nice and warm. Sebastian (Sams man on the spot) was very helpful and the breakfasts at the Quince Tree cafe are not to be missed. we ate there 3 days running!! John
Such a lovely experience!
Sam was so lovely and my stay on Barbara really exceeded my expectations! The boat was really comfortable, immaculate and in the best location of Little Venice. I also loved all of the lovely touches such as her providing slippers, freshly baked bread and leaving some essentials in the fridge. It was such a memorable stay and Sam clearly takes pride in providing an excellent service for her clients.
Fantastic last minute stay
Me and my girlfriend spent two nights on Barbara. Had a great stay with everything meeting or exceeding our expectations. Sam was great at arranging a very last minute booking and communicating with us. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
A weekend away without going away!
LOVED this little boat and weekend away (we live in London but wanted to do something without getting on another plane!). The boat is perfect and completely decked out (no pun intended) and spacious! It's in a great spot in the middle of little Venice with restaurants and bars and shops all very close! We wanted for nothing while on the boat! We'd definitely recommend this boat for a weekend when looking for something a little different and fun! Thanks again to Sam and Hatam who were great as well and gave loads of tips for the area.
Excellent stay, 4 people, 2 nights in London
Booked 2 nights on Sam's boat for 3 days in London to be able to take friends visiting from Canada around the sights with ease, the boat was booked months in advance a few week I was notified that the boat needed emergency repairs but Sam offered the use of another boat which was better, Sam was at the arranged meeting place on time and went through the details onboard, this was an excellent experience for any tourists visiting London, much more unusual than a hotel, and worked out cheaper than 2 hotel rooms, the evenings on board were also much better than a hotel room, couple of bottles of wine and nibbles made for a great evening. Would highly recommend staying on one of Sams boats if you are visiting London.
Lovely stay on this sweet narrowboat. Perfect location. The only drawback for me was the fact one cannot use a hairdryer and the Maserator toilet will not take toilet tissue. Sam was very helpful and the dongle meant we could watch tv on my iPad with only some buffering from time to time.
fabolous location, everything you may possibly need on board, easy logistics for getting in/out.plus added magic of staying afloat.highly recommended.10 of 10. thank you Sam.
Barbara la Belle
I enjoyed our 2 day stay at the boat very much. There boat is perfect equipped with all one needs. The location at little Venice is very romantic, well connected and quiet. And last not least Sam is a wonderful host. I like to recommend Barbara highly. Best Monika
We stayed 2 nights on Barbara to celebrate my husband's birthday. She is in a perfect location with many local bars and restaurants close by but we chose to eat on deck and loved watching river life both human and birds! The boat is beautiful and Sam the owner could not have been more helpful and kind.
