Ive lived and sailed on historic boats for many years and now I'm living ashore in Excelsior's home port, working for the ship and helping other people share the magic with opportunities to come onboard.

Fun, interesting and quirky stay onboard a boat.
Very welcoming crew who were always happy and keen to share information about the boat and life at sea. We were catered for well with a good breakfast and always felt looked after. Would like to stay again for longer sea trips.
First Light ovenight
We really enjoyed visiting Lowestoft and the inaugural First Light Festival. Being able to stay on the Excelsior made it possible for us. Although space was tight and fully communal we found the welcome warm. We especially enjoyed sitting around the breakfast table finding more out about the history of this lovely boat. We had the freedom to catch a few hours sleep where we could and set an alarm to get up to enjoy a special sunrise on the beach with Talvin Singh. Thanks so much Hugh.
We loved it!
We really enjoyed our stay on Excelsior, very comfortable, friendly and welcoming. Would love to come again! Thank you 😊
First light festival
One night stay in Lowestoft - 2 people. I had no idea what to expect even though I had asked a number of questions, but it wasn't anything like I eventually imagined and not for the fainthearted. All of the admin was excellent - booking, communication, information provided. Check in was good, met on arrival and shown to our bunks. The rest is an adventure to be experienced and not talked about here. The crew were great, the breakfast was excellent. Downsides - a bit noisy, water pumps and other guests arriving late (to be expected I guess after all it was a 24 hour festival). All manual and very small toilets and don't expect too much privacy and finally, not the cheapest accommodation. But, as I said, an adventure and would I stay again - absolutely yes!
